Centrifuge Decanter centrifuges perform solid/liquid separation of sludge (Dewatering) at high rotational speed (Over 3,000G). The centrifuge rotor consists of the cylindroconical solid bowl and the scroll. The liquid/solid sludge mixture is injected to the rotor of the centrifuge and reaches the distributor, where it is subjected to centrifugal force. The suspended solids are collected on the bowl wall. The scroll rakes over the centrifuged particles and conveys them to the end of the bowl, where the dewatered "cake" is discharged by gravity. The water/liquid, which forms a pond in the bowl, is evacuated at the other end of the centrifuge by overflowing. Typical sludge feed rates for centrifuges are 50 GPM up to 600 GPM and polymer is typically added to thicken the influent sludge to the centrifuge.

Belt Press

A belt filter press is a sludge dewatering device that applies mechanical pressure to a conditioned sludge, which is sandwiched between two tensioned belts, by passing those belts through a serpentine of decreasing diameter rolls. The sludge is typically conditioned with polymer. The belt press can be divided into 4 zones: The gravity zone, where free draining water is drained by gravity through a porous belt; a wedge zone where the solids are prepared for pressure application; And medium and high pressure zones where medium then high pressure is applied to dewater the sludge. Typical sludge feed rates for a belt press are 50 GPM to 300 GPM.

Dewatering Filters

The process focuses on the concept of rapid drainage of free water with the assistance of a dewatering polymer. The free water is rapidly removed by gravity while further water is removed by natural evaporative processes.
